It is recommended that you bring along evidence of your NHS entitlement such as a NHS card or letter of confirmation. Frequency of examination depends upon which NHS category applies to you, the optometrist will advise.

You are eligible for a free NHS-funded sight test if:

• Aged under 16
• Aged 16, 17 or 18 and in full-time education
• Aged 60 or over
• Registered as partially sighted (sight impaired) or blind (severely sight impaired)
• Diagnosed with glaucoma or diabetes
• Aged 40 or over and your mother, father, brother, sister, son or daughter has been diagnosed with glaucoma
• If you are at risk of glaucoma
